Leaving / Returning, Barbies
by Trunk Gallery
Location: Trunk Gallery
Artist(s): Jeongwon YOON
Date: 6 Nov - 26 Nov 2013

Interesting in Barbie Doll, Jeongwon Yoon now works with it unlike previous ones. Barbie doll has generally sexual attraction but it refers to a woman without identity. Conservative men love such 'Barbie.' It produces ideologically created Barbie Play Sets infinitely and these possibly evokes distorted desire to girls who don't have the perfection of self. Jeongwon Yoon focuses on this problem and expresses it.

She has made a festival place with abandoned 'Barbies' and loud decorations. But now she uses photo media. She collects Barbies left and breathes new life into them so that Barbies can recover identity and try to implement new order.
