VISION: In art term, it refers to a dreamy phenomenon that occurs in one's mind when creating and appreciating an artwork.

In the flood of images, what is the definition of an image? It is no exaggeration to say that the images placed in our minds through various various media have become another language itself, rooted deeply in our unconsciousness. Whether they are symbolic images, representing certain era of the history, or easily seen subjets we commonly run into in commercials, movies and magazines, most of people define them in a way media intend to. Firmly rooted perspectives and interpretations toward images do not seem to escape from suggested definitions, lingering around limited words.

In vision, REVISED, we introduce two young talented artists, Sunghoon Jung and Shaik Azgharali whose works are closely related to re-creating images with the new definition of their own, through the different visions and languages.

The painting of Jung start with the smallest society we encounter, family, with the artist's own experience of growing up in a conservative family with an authoritative atmosphere. From this starting point, the theme of the works expand to the authority of interior and exterior of a nation, especially the structure and relationship of power struggle in the aspects of social politics. The re-interpreted images through artist's own vision, visualize dynamics of the never-ending and fierce power struggle that started from the beginning of humanity and its delusion.

Azgharali, a painter from India, whose works have fairly distinct mood from Jung's works, says that his works are 'the reflection of conceive perception in the realm of understanding the society.' Azgharali resolves the easily seen popular images, social issues and unconsciously reflected images of his own perspectives in his way, builds relationship of each element, and express them as one complete image. The texts, which the artist uses to convey socio-political existence of current culture, function as an interpreter to directly deliver the images and suggest the third point of view to the viewers.

The revised images interpreted by two artist who live in the same era of flowing images will break us away from the fixational perspectives and suggest an extension of stories we have not realized or imagined yet. Through vision, REVISED, where two artists' conflicting energy is exploding, UNC Gallery hopes you to experience a meaningful exhibition with broader sight and revised vision.
