Kim Jae Sun Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of Sehan Kim’s recent work.
The works in the previous ‘Night Scenes’ series wanted to speak for the daily routines, dreams, and hopes of the city. He thought the buildings and roads frequently featured in his previous works were too simplistic and reductive means to express the entirety of artistic worldview and internal world. Struggling to show what was invisible helped his works to become born again.
In this series, He is borrowing elements from the works of various pop artists and using them to supplement his thoughts on the canvas. His previous works are flat and one-dimensional, and are therefore not capable of showing fragments of our lives in the buildings and spaces of the city just by showing moving crowds gathered together. Instead, he seeks to borrow from Stein, Warhol, and other artists as well to express the sorrows, joys, and other elements of life we experience in the city.
