Pyo Gallery South is please to open a solo exhibition entitled 'Familiar Scene' by Korean sculptor, Byung Joo Kim. With a theme 'a space of unrevealed infinite opportunity,' he creates the space using overlapped lines. Showing architectural factors, his work does not have a clear boundary between inside and outside so that many new spaces are made and extended to the shadow. The exhibition will show 20 reliefs and installations.
The artist expresses buildings with lines. It started a question, 'What is there behind a space of a wall and a closed door?'. As having interest in a boundary of the space, he has worked on revealing it. Focusing on 'unrevealing' of space, boundary and building, the artist creates installations and reliefs consisting of straight lines made of steel and new works with curves. 'Void' concept in architecture is applied to his structure.
For the exhibition, installation 'Familiar Scene,' 'Urbanscape,' which visualizes disappearing complicatedly overlapped structures towards a vanishing point, and 'Ambiguous Wall,' expressing the ambiguous space, will be on display.
