Yukari Bunya was born in Okayama prefecture in 1985. She graduated from Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, department of Music composer in 2008 and completed the Graduate School of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, department of Inter Media Art. Now she lives in Aichi prefecture.

Early in her carrier, she came into the limelight with her unique impromptu-like drawings. She was accepted at Gunma Biennale for Young Artists 2010 and participated in Aichi Triennale 2010 Exhibition. In 2012, she participated in the exhibition, “Position 2012: Contemporary Art from Nagoya ~The World seen from this Position~”, at Nagoya City Art Museum (6/2-7/16). In 2013, she participates in the exhibition, “VOCA 2013: The Vision of Contemporary Art 2013".

Artist Comments
“I draw lines in accordance with the peculiarities in my hand writing and I organize these lines into a picture plane by using the structure which was born in the process of drawing. By drawing lines extemporaneously and intuitively with a playful mind, I express the decisiveness and graciousness on the picture plane.”(Yukari Bunya)
