This exhibition of works from the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp's collection focuses specifically on Belgian paintings from the end of the 19th Century until the middle of the 20th Century. The 70 works by 37 artists showcase the history of Belgian modern art, and include works by the three masters of contemporary Belgian art - James Ensor, René Magritte, and Paul Delvaux - as well as works by symbolist artists such as Léon Spilliaert and Fernand Khnopff, the Flemish expressionists, and surrealist artists. This is the first substantial exhibition in Japan of works from the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp's collection of modern art, and will feature Magritte's masterpiece Sixteenth of September.
