Kodama Gallery Tokyo presents a duo exhibition entitled 'Analysis of Empathy' by Yukari Matsushima and Sakura Morri.
Yukari Matsushima has held three exhibitions at Kodama Gallery, 'vacant evil' (Kyoto) in 2011, 'Casting a spell that becomes a lie once spoken' in 2012, and 'When the darkness of the night falls a sleep' in 2013. Using brilliant colors and cute patterns, Yukari's painting attracts to a fairytale or a old story. In the exhibition, Matsushima shows a different side through plaid pattern and simplified images but color in a motif shows very negative and clear reversal and an allegorical landscape with a mix of truth and falsity is revealed, which reflects double-sidedness everyone has.
Sakura Morii has held two exhibition in the gallery, 'Party Night on the Rock' in 2012 and 'System.out.println(“Hello World.”)' in 2013. Morii's work has uniqueness of materials. Morri uses urethane foam, silicone resins and plastic, and it shows plastic's own artificial and vivid color. It seems to be an experiment to achieve a fusion of artifact and organism, and interlocked material with vision.
The exhibition presents empathy to bring two artists' inner minds with full of emotion and imagination into the outside.
