Artist(s): Euan MACDONALD
Date: 26 Jun - 24 Jul 2010

AOYAMA | MEGURO is pleased to announce Euan Macdonald's solo exhibition "The Sound of Ice Melting,Dripping" 26.Jun.sat  - 24.Jul.sat, as his second-time exhibition in our gallery. Born Edinburgh,Scotland,1965.lived and worked in Vancouver,Canada, and presently Los Angels,USA now.
Nowadays, he is recognized as a noticed artist. We could see his published work in all over the world in the art center, art museum, art project, and art gallery.

The title of this show, The Sound of Ice Melting, Dripping is relevant to the content of a two channel video piece The Field, the central piece of this exhibition.

In this piece, 35 LPs from an old BBC sound effects library, all featuring imitated sound effects for TV productions and radio plays, are spinning on two turntables on each monitor. Various sounds made by artificial means, such as "Birdsong," "Cocktail Party," "Ice in Glass Water," "Air Plane," and so on, are mixed through two monitors and two pairs of speakers, e.g. "Nature" mixed with "the Universe", creating a complicated sound scape in which the spectacular and simplicity coexist. It is a simple video piece, yet creates an acoustic environment that you have never experienced.

Other exhibits include Palm Tree with Shadow (proposal), a bronze sculpture of a palm tree and its bending shadow, drawings of glaciers, a series of drawing literally depicting glaciers, and Snail, a six-minute video piece of a snail slowly gliding across the sand.

And also, His upcoming solo exhibition would be at Yerba Buena Center for Contemporary Art, San Francisco.
Please peruse his exhibision after an interval of three years in this chance.
