"For me, paint is blood, cloths is flesh, and thread is a blood vessel which spins them" (Takano)
At first sight, Mimi Takano’s works seem to have pains as images of self-harm. Skins are torn, blood is drawn, and even internal organs seem to become bare…yet, it is beautiful. And it is still. It seems to perform its inner side, but being all ears it actually spin what it receives as nonverbal pulsation of its own mind and body. This is why, for the viewers too, the works can be a path towards our inner side.
