From all appearance, Tomokazu Sawaguchi’s works are wood carvings. However, why it is wood is the typical question. Though wood is never the weakness of his works. As we look at the carved figures we recognize that wood is perhaps the best material that should take his deeds. At the same time, a strange feeling catches us as something, which cannot be wood, is standing there in disguise. Something, that seems to weave laughter, solitude, fret and faith. This flurry is indeed the essence and possibilities of his expressions.
