A new exhibition 'VIDEOs' consists of works by 5 video artists. Video has been used as one of art expressions by Nam June Paik for 51 years. Since Andy Warhol worked on video 49 years ago, many artists in various genre use video today.
Five artists in the exhibition do not use video as art supply only, but video's characteristic and seeking for 'seeing in electron.' In their works, succeeding avant-garde in art history and showing it in contemporary media, video, can be found. Kentaro Taki deconstructs video using movement of cubism. Shuhei Nishiyama practices aesthetic features according to Doesburg's analysis in video. Ryota Hamasaki creates barren probability between man and woman like Nouveau roman. Sung Nam Han uses a perversion of drama like Apollinaire. And Masayuki Kawai focuses on the world filled with Äther of electron.
At an early age, Nam Jue Paik predicted that 'As collage replaced oil painting, a Braun tube will substitute canvas.' Video's one of real scenes as art can be seen in their works.
