Adam Silverman was born in 1963 in New York. He studied at The Rhode Island School of Design, from which he holds a Bachelor of Fine Art and a Bachelor of Architecture. He currently lives and works in Los Angels. He worked as the co-founder of X-Large and X-Girl. In 2003, he opened his ceramic studio Atwater Pottery. He has been the studio director of Heath Ceramics (Los Angels) since 2008. Silverman's work's lava-like unique textures, organic and sensual forms, and unforgettable colors such as cobalt blue refer to nature in abstract way, often giving the viewer the impression that they came from under ground, or under the ocean, or from outer space. He has shown extensively, including large-scale installations, in the states and Japan. He is currently working on the "Reverse Archaeology" project at the Kimbell Art Museum, where he harvests materials from a construction site of the museum (where there is a Louis Kahn building, a new Renzo Piano addition is being built, and there is a Tadao Ando nearby) and creates a body of work. Silverman always explores new possibilities of expressions.
