Palettes
by MISAKO & ROSEN
Location: MiSAKO & ROSEN
Artist(s): Erika VERZUTTI
Date: 20 Oct - 17 Nov 2013

We are pleased to announce our second presentation of a solo exhibition with Sao Paulo based artist Erika Verzutti. Verzutti presently has work on view at the 2013 Carnegie International in Pittsburgh (USA). A selection of upcoming and recent exhibitions includes : Wexner Center for the Arts, Ohio (2014), 9th Biennial of Mercosul, Porto Alegre (2013), Museum of Modern Art, Sao Paulo (2013) and High Line Art, New York (2012). In Japan, Verzutti has exhibited at the Hara Museum (2012) as well as the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art(2009, Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo and Tokyo Wonder Site (2008). Verzutti, as well, has participated in the Tokyo residency program of AIT (Art Initiative Tokyo)

The present exhibition, Palettes, consists of painted concrete and bronze wall-mounted works. This new series is consistent with Verzutti's ongoing investigation of formal sculptural properties via a playful mix of material experimentation and representational content. Suggestive of vessels or cases, these "palettes" are at once traces of production (bearing the mark of their maker) as well as portraits of a kind…semi-representations of tools (make-up cases, art supplies) as well as evocative of places and their remnants.
