Miami-based Cuban artist Leonel Matheu creates works that depict airplanes and cars filled with human characters and sweaty, agitated faces that are only half visible.

His compositions and use of color are inspired in equal parts by Latin America and European and American Modernism, while his subjects incorporate social criticism while also maintaining a strong sense of poetic narrative. This solo show by Matheu features paintings and videos that mix American
influences with European idioms to convey strong social messages.
