Hagiwara Projects will be presenting a solo exhibition of Shunsuke Imai, featuring new works. This is his second solo exhibition after the first one last year, and 10 new paintings will be introduced.
Last year, he announced paintings with fluttering flags based on the planar characteristics of painting. The new exhibition entitled 'color/form' is consisted in terms of a view of color and form which are the basic elements of painting.
With a basic question 'How to compose color and form in rectangle interestingly?', Imai forms a composition of color through distorting, expanding, or reducing various colors. Acrylic painting on canvas leaves texture of brush stroke out but provides tension as contrast between colors with high purity unlike monitor or printed matters.
