Yoi Kawakubo was born in 1979 in Toledo, Spain. After the graduation of Human Sciences at University of Tsukuba in Japan, he has started working as a professional photographer since 2007. In just a few years time, he has joined group exhibitions at museum such as Saitama Museum of Modern Art and Contemporary Art Museum Tokyo at the same time successfully held several solo exhibitions in galleries.
His long exposure photographs visualizes floating sense of time surrounds worshipped objects throughout history of human beings. His art work shows energy of the universe which beyond our perception and it delivers fantastic, mysterious and solitary feeling of finding out hidden forms of the world.
For this time, there will be more than ten new prints including his latest series of prints focusing on nuclear power stations in Japan. Also Kawakubo challenges to present a photograph without an image by composing various sounds recorded while he was traveling and shooting the works.
