TRAUMARIS | Space will introduce the installation by Claudio Colucci. Colucci was born in 1965 in Switzerland and has studied in Geneva, Paris and London. After working at Philippe Starck, he established the office in Paris. However, when traveling to Tokyo, he got into the Japanese culture so that started working at IDÉE as the designer. In 1998, he established 'CLAUDIO COLUCCI DESIGN', there are branches in Tokyo, Paris, Geneva, Shanghai and Beijing and the company is in charge of interior and product project in many countries. In this spring, he published 'KALEIDOSCOPE' and his exhibition 'COLOURISTIC!' got a great attention.
The mushroom-shaped flower base exhibited at 'COLOURISTIC!' is his representative work. This happy, humorous and sometimes sensual design actually contains sense of crisis opposing atomic energy, which not many people know.
" It is a technology for the angels, too dangerous to entrusted to humans. In other words, we do not let children play with matches."
To what Reeves said, Claudio Colucci responded as below.
Inspired by Hubert Reeves and by this simple maxim, I created an installation recalling the fragility of the nuclear threat and the temptation to man on this energy.
Through a random walk that reflects more a playground for children than imminent nuclear threat, a series of mushroom clouds composed the plan, colorful and friendly, designed like a Japanese manga.
The public is invited to walk through the installation without ever touching a single piece, so fragile it may explode has the least caress!
These 20 vases, "sculptures-sequences" are all different, each freeze a moment of the explosion. Each piece is made of transparent glass or fluorescent color.
In this exhibition, he tries to tell a outline of design concept with more stoic approach, while there was the psychedelic work in fluorescent color at the exhibition 'COLOURISTIC!'. The bases floats into the space as releasing a faint sound and the white light. As stimulating the viewers' sense by those 'form' and 'color', the message, which the designer never mentioned directly, will be delivered.
