Anna Cavaliere was born and grew up in Italy.
She dreamt about working on stage so, after studying Theatre Disciplines at the University of Bologna and considering her enthusiasm for cutting and sewing, she moved to Milan to improve her skills in theatrical costuming at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala. After a while, she started working for the Costume Department at the Teatro Sociale, in Como; designing and realizing costumes for the opera productions all year through.
Hat making began in 2006, when she needed a different playground where to experiment and give shape to any idea or inspiration that came up. Technically, she finds felt intriguing since it doesn’t need much finishing, it allows you to get excellent results and focus on the perfect shape you’re looking for; once you have a good pattern to cut, most of the job is done. When a hat’s cut satisfies her, she sits down and enjoy a thousand ways to diversify it, simply changing colors, or trims, or whatever she feels like sewing onto it: a good pattern is the essential basis on which she can work with creativity.
It is the FIRST time of Anna showing her hats in Tokyo, Japan; represented by petit morpho, Hong Kong. It is also available for sale if you have any favorite one you would like to adopt. We are pleased to invite you to view Anna’ hats exhibit starting from November 21st to November 26th, 2011 at Gallery Sequel.
