We are pleased to announce Department of Inter Media Art, the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduation Exhibition, taking place at BankART Studio NYK, Yokohama. In Department of Inter Media Art we strive to transcend the traditional delineations of art practice by continually questioning the meaning of art itself, and the role of human expression and how it relates to society as a whole. The catastrophic events of March 11th and the drastic changes that have occurred have affected us each individually and have changed the questions we ask ourselves.

In the present situation and as students in this Department, it is inevitable that our artistic expression becomes a response to this new reality in some way. In the planning for this exhibition we as students came together to discuss details, negotiate, plan and prepare, and although the effort was often clumsy, each element in the process served to push the significance of our expression from the smaller realm of the university, to the outside world and the very real present. It is here where these thoughts meet, intersect and possibly find some sort of conclusion. We are pleased and honored to invite you to come and be a part of this transient landscape.
