Born in 1945, Hiro Kikai studied philosophy in college, and experienced a truck driver, a fisherman and so on. When he faced with Diane Arbus' photo book by accident, he decided to be a photographer
Since 1973, he has photographed random people on the street in Asakusa and published photo books, 'Portraits of Kings (1987), 'PERSONA (2003)', and 'Tokyo Portrait (2011)', which left a strong impression to the viewers.
Photo works named 'portrait of a space' are about traces and scents of people left in the space. 15 selected monochrome photos from the 'Tokyo Labyrinth' series will be introduced.
