Upon our fresh start of our activity in the new space, recognizing our interest as a gallery that presents contemporary visual art, we decided to leave the initiative for the reconstruction of the space to Takayoshi Tsuchiya and Kentaro Ataka who manipulatively control the perception.

The collaborated exhibition of Takayoshi Tsuchiya (artist) and Kentaro Ataka (architect) "Where has yesterday gone?" is an installation project that address the process and time of the reconstruction until its completion through various methods and media, such as movies, architecture objects, paintings and installations.

When Accumulated "yesterdays" recorded in movies are reflected on the wall and starts to have relations with the objects, paintings and architecture exist in the space, yesterday and today overlap in your sights in a puzzling way, the time series gets twisted, and the whole space functions to reveal the other aspect of the world.

"Where has yesterday gone?" Once inaccurate perception and flexible memory intervene it becomes not easy to find "yesterday" which was first supposed to be certain.

Kentaro Ataka
Architect. Born in 1974, Saitama. Acquired M.F.A. at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts in 2001. In 2003 founded Ataka Kentaro Architectural Design and worked on diverse projects such as residence, condominiums, training facility, kindergartens and public art. Received Tokyo Residential Architecture Award 2007, Recommendation Award by Architectural Institute of Japan and many others. Currently teaching at 6 universities including Tokyo National University of the Arts and Music, Shibaura Institute of Technology and Kyoto University of Art and Design, and conducting a program of establishing a community managed with rearing horses and organic farming by the horses in Tono city in Iwate prefecture.
