The gallery is pleased to announce their current exhibition ZIPANGU-related ―Jumpei UEDA・Satoshi SOMEYA・Kaori WATANABE group exhibition ― titled “Jumpei UEDA / Satoshi SOMEYA / Kaori WATANABE from ZIPANGU”.

At “ ZIPANGU ―31 spirited artists cutting through new territories of Japanese contemporary art.”, the works of 31 artists who lead Japanese contemporary art scene will be exhibited. And “ZIPANGU” will make a exhibition tour to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. From imura art gallery, 7 artists will exhibit at “ZIPANGU”, including Jumpei UEDA, Satoshi SOMEYA and Kaori WATANABE .

Jumpei Ueda is well-known for his ceramic works in the motif of Japanese tradition and Japanese pop culture. The works coming from his high technique, sensitivity and inquiring mind are impressive and evocative, because the one got used to seeing in daily life is shown by a different aspect.
Satoshi Someya creates kitschy sculptures in the motif of creatures like animals and and monstrous beasts by fusing the traditional techniques of lacquer and his own modern sense.
Kaori Watanabe's fantastic yet delicate world of her paintings attracts us. Having high techniques of traditional Japanese painting, she had worked on the Japanese movie called “Sakuran”, directed by Mika Ninagawa. Without a doubt, she is one of the most well-known up-and-coming Japanese painters who actively produces works in many fields.

However each of them has the different methods for art; ceramic, lacquer and Japanese-style painting, they face Japanese traditions, cultures and aesthetic sense, and search for their expressions today.
