Shihoko Fukumoto has worked using a dyed cotton in an unique way since 1970s, and on a process, he handles a fabric involving various history and culture in all times and places. Recently, he focuses on succession of disappearing Japanese culture so that restores rare fabrics embracing the cultural climate like Okusozakkuri or Echigo Chijimi as the dyed work in a contemporary perspective.
In this exhibition, new series 'afterimage' will be on display as well as previous works.
