Maki Toshima gradated from BA & MA Fine Art, Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate school of Inter Media Art in 2006.

Toshima has created allegorical works in the motif by myths　and fairy tales of all ages and countries. Currently, she execute drawings, installations and video installations in various technique. She had won the grand prize at the Kobe Biennale International Competition in 2009.
