Location: Kahitsukan Kyoto Museum of Contemporary Art
Artist(s): Maya MAXX
Date: 7 Jul - 19 Aug 2012

This time we hold "Zoo MAYA MAXX Exhibition".
MAYA MAXX is a self-taught painter who started to draw when she was 27 years old. Since then, she’s been working on various fields, such as gallery and museum exhibitions, book and CD cover designs, and live paintings.
She is very popular especially among younger generations. Her dynamically drawn lines as well as her delicate and sensitive lines are combined delicately and deepen its expressions of her paintings, which lead us into MAYA MAXX’s creative and imaginary world. MAYA MAXX says “I love painting so much that I tremble all over with joy.” Animals appear in her paintings are lively drew as if we could understand their mind and soul. And humorous titles add extra charms on her paintings. MAYA MAXX’s paintings let us remember a fundamental joy of art, which is to enjoy with free spirit. This is the fourth exhibition which is part of a long-term exhibition project “MAYA MAXX’s ten years”, and we exhibit almost 100 pieces of her new works under a theme of “Zoo”. Please take this opportunity to enjoy MAYA MAXX’s unique world of paintings.
