Hiromart Gallery Tokyo is pleased to announce the opening of "The Internal Organs", by Hamburg based artist Claudia Ahlering. This is the artist's first solo-show in Japan.
The Internal Organs
These drawings and paintings are about inner processes - Sometimes it can be taken literally. Claudia Ahlering presents herself as a fairytale book, giving the viewer to flip over the pages of her personal environment, heavily influenced by human behaviors and peotically diverted by her iimagination. All the perceptible intrinsic torture resides in the ambiguity of her creations. They are heavily related to the roots, the place of the female, or the gender, and in technical terms would be defined by certain gragility and exacerbated sensibility.
Artist Statement
In these artworks I elaborate some bad personal experiences. Images of the body are playing a certain role in my artworks and these are also about human relations. The technique of aquarelle/water colors I discovered for my purpose to use the right means of expression. Often it's about some kind of lightness or the opposite of it, gravity. I'd like to show the shadows in life and in our feelings but at the same time I don't want to miss to give humor and self-mockery.
