The Tohoku earthquake has caused unprecedented devastation. It is our first hope that all those who have been affected by this natural disaster will make a speedy recovery.
At 3331 we held an emergency open meeting on 16th March entitled "What we can do now!", bringing together over 60 participants, including associates of 3331 and the general public.
In this meeting many opinions were expressed that 3331 should create a platform between the affected areas and creative practitioners. Furthermore it was expressed that support should not just be short term but should be approached from a long term perspective of 5, 10 years.
As something which 3331 is immediately able to do we will open up the art action group, which has been established in response to this situation, and provide the opportunity to learn more about their activities. Furthermore a charity art auction/art sales will be opened to raise funds for organizations who are aiding those affected by the quake. 3331's commission artist Hibino Katsuhiko will also facilitate the "Heart Markâ¤Viewing" workshop, designed to give encouragement to those in the affected areas.
