Taro Ando has lived and worked in the Kansai region since graduating from the master program of Kyoto City University of the Arts. In recent years he has developed his work around two series “Stone” and “Block”.

“Stone” Series A multitude of stones come to represent people. If you look carefully you can see they are all slightly different, but how much are we aware of that? But at a glance they are all the same, all gathered together, colliding, nestling amongst each other just like the relations between people.

“Block Series” Here the build up of thought and experience is represented as a block. This is a wall to protect oneself and to place a barrier between others. Here fragments of memories are drawn upon this wall.

Here at Youkobo Ando presents a body of work from the “Stones” series, reflecting upon the relations between one person and another.
