Makii Masaru is glad to inform the exhibition of two female Japanese-painting artists, Saori Masuda and Azusa Komoda who are pursuiting something essential and fundamental with their awe and admiration to living being, and natural world.
"The feelings of awe and adoration toward the outer space and the deep sea have existed in my heart since my childhood. I am also interested in the origin of life and the later evolution that leads to my existence, and therefore I chose the sea lilies drifting in the sea since ancient times as the motif of my artwork. I see their neuron-like figures as primordial shapes of living beings, and they are also very important elements in the artwork that express my views of outer space and life. Using the techniques of Japanese painting, I would let my brush freely express the world that beauty and awe coexist." - Azusa KOMODA
