"I have pursued expressing two or more occurrences on a canvas which appears simultaneously in everyday space.
For example, when seeing the road surface on the street, the reflection of people walking, the surrounding buildings are visible in the same surface and then in addition, here is the leaving rain drops traces too, sometime. They have a time lag and respective circumstances. The street shows me the atmosphere of their own live, the reflections which don’t have fixable form give us feeling invisible things such as a flow of the time.
They are fixed as one of the same scene. It seems to be synchronic however, they are having respective ways of live. Such simultaneity often tends to be overlooked although it is visible in usual sceneries in fact. I try to discover and extract it out of usual motif, such as a living room, a skyscraper appearing through a window, a neighboring alley, a parking lot and so on.
Expressing such simultaneity on one screen does not only require the ability to describe the individual characteristic of elements precisely but also the imagination to relate plural elements to each other resonantly or repulsively.
It is not poetic. That’s the practice way of figuring out how to perceive."
