Date: 30 Mar - 21 Apr 2013
Bambinart Gallery is pleased to present a joint exhibition by artists Christian Probst and Kota Hirakawa.
Titled '東京、トウキョウ、TOKYO', which writes "Tokyo" in three different characters, is a project inspired by conversations held between Hirakawa and Probst. In their exchange, both artists came to realize different aspects of the same city that they had never seen before.
The Tokyo written in Chinese characters in the title represents the gaze by Japanese artist Hirakawa, while the Tokyo in English represents Christian's. Capturing the cosmopolitan city through the gaze of two artists with differing cultural backgrounds, the exhibition aims to portray a layered gradation of varying aspects that constitute the Tokyo we live in.
