Bambinart Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Mio Ebisu “Delicious Water” beginning on February 17 until March 11, 2012.

Mio Ebisu (b. 1987 in Tokyo, graduate of Musashino Art University) paints to remember her childhood encounters with nature. The series titled “Urban Life” in opposition to the series “Nature” are imagined sceneries of Lake Mashu in Hokkaido, a view of the mountain range from Lake Akan, or Yonezuka in Kumamoto, all of which she once saw as a child. Ebisu revisits these locations in her mind, following thin, leading threads of memory and submerges herself into the depths of nature amidst the neon lights of Tokyo.

Ebisu also draws attention to physical sensations felt in raindrops lit up by a lamppost or the curves of a jacket. These lightly drawn images serve as little doors that welcome the viewer into Ebisu’s mind.

The purity of her works and the boundless world of imagination behind them come close to the realm of Art Brut, where the works themselves became a different universe in which artists found comfort.
