A manipulation of light and shade, sliced carefully into a single moment. A window into the moments of six artists, each enclosing a world of depth and richness. A monochrome exhibition of gelatin silver prints.
Many a fine photography artist has poured their passion into the technique known as gelatin silver printing, and the latter half of the 20th century saw the quality of this particular style reach new heights. Even now, amidst this digital photography craze that has driven demand for silver prints to new lows, there are more than a few photographers exploring these particular possibilities of analog. Development of the negative includes a particular technique known as 'dodging', by which the exposure of a certain part of the photograph can be modified by holding one's hand between the exposing light and the printing paper. Works created using this highly intuitive process are classified as original prints. Emon Photo Gallery invites you to enjoy the deft technique of these six artists, apparent in the masterful original prints on display in this B&W exhibition.
