We are pleased to present a new exhibition “Ghost” by Shuhei Yamada. In recent years, Yamada has won the "New Cosmos of Photography Prize" and received a gold award at GEISAI#14. Also he has exhibited in international art fairs and exhibitions and now his reputation is expanding internationally.
Yamada created the photographs in an idea of subtraction, deleted the symbols and words in the image. In this exhibition, Yamada shifted the point of observation to the image itself.
In relation to this exhibition Yamada said, “ I found an interesting word on a package of snack and it said `This photograph is an image’. I realized photograph is something looks like real but never is an actual truth.I feel it is important to emphasize this ordinary understanding of photograph, that photograph is an image and nothing else.”
How can we make an autonomous image? It seems like a reckless challenge to our systemized recognition. In this exhibition, we will see Yamada’s act of “relating to image subjectively” in the present day that we see images with full of information everywhere.
