Looking into the street by Michiko Isono

A scene of apartment complex appears on the large screen. Old apartment balconies normally stand in a row heading to South. What happens inside is hard to figure out but in terms of people's look, appearance of apartment is changed. Film by Isono in 2012 showed unseen ordinary life existing in the familiar apartment block.

Isono is interested in people's daily life and behavior. Especially, the artist more focuses on a person in a group and she plays a role as observer. Individuality is completely not appeared on the art work. A flow of cars and people on the street. Opened umbrellas at the same time...There is an interesting point that looking down at people from the window. A keynote of her work, a distance of an object can give a enjoy to rediscover our ordinary life in familiar landscape.

For the new exhibition, Isono photographed lots of sign boards along with the stations. Also, new series for the umbrella is taken on the street. The series focuses on opened umbrella but people's presence can be found from it. The exhibition is not just to show installed documents but to complete the space with solid art works.
