Ichihara city, where will hold the event 'Ichihara Art X Mix' in 2014, is reopening Ichihara Lakeside Museum, which used to be 'A hill of water and sculpture', in August. To celebrate opening, 'Yukihisa Isobe - environment, image, expression' will be held.
Isobe has well-known as the representative artist of avant-garde art at postwar Japan, but after he studied ecological planning in the U.S, has worked under the theme 'a change of the environment' starting from 'Echigo-Tsumari Triennale' in 2000 again.
This exhibition is his solo exhibition at the museum in Japan after the retrospective at Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo six years ago, and early works, Wappen works in 1960s, and new pieces in terms of recent environmental issues will be on display.
Along with this, Art Front Gallery will show his unpublished prints, representative Wappen series, especially works in early 1960s. Especially, it will be a good chance to look back how he expressed an important keyword 'repetition' at the peak of Modernism in 1960s, when focused on 'originality' as the best.
