Kana Yoshida has been known the artist who uses a body. It sounds like she is the performer, but actually her art works show what she usually does for work, such as climbing a mountain, scrambling up a cliff, or diving. All activities in her life become art. Rather than creating what she sees, she expresses what she experiences through her body. Thus, her work is not a landscape cut by a certain moment. She remembers all scenes from various perspectives.
At the Setouchi Triennale 2013 in March, she has been exhibiting the new work in Shōdo Island until fall. It is the conical shape installation with 4 meter height and covers the ceiling. If the viewers step into the middle of cone, they can see a seascape. To make this, Yoshida has dived into the sea near Shōdo Island many times. Also, there is a stereoscopic island in the upper part of installation.
In the new exhibition at Art Front Gallery, she will show a new relief shaped installation of forest as well as panel works. This is an extension of her previous works. When passing by trees, a view keeps changing, so that unfolding various scenes can be generally called a forest. In her new work, a form of each piece is unclear but fun and they make the forest installation in a big scale.
