Hiroshige Fukuhara (b.1975) was won Philip Morris Art Award in 1997 and also shown at group show "Buzz Club: News From Japan" of PS1 MoMA in NY ,2001 and then he quit all activity as an artist.
He has restarted his "artist" carrier at "ULTRA" art fair in Tokyo,Oct 2009 after a 8 year absence.
Thereupon He was shown "Pulse" art fair in NY, Mar 2010 as well. At the both art fairs, his creation was received very well and all works were sold out.
He draws black lines in a black basement.
Those inorganic lines which can be replaced by "0 (basement) "and "1 (line)" as the exhibition title "binary" has a rich expression depends on illumination.
Fukuhara says this way of expression was taken by ”waka poetry".
Besides He draws very simple way. He just fills with his favorite images as flowers, fruits, animals,,, which are created by plenty of lines from end to end of the canvas without any drafts and compositions.
This is a first his solo exhibition.
Ai Kowada Gallery is going to show his brand new 10 works.
