Minami Hirosawa was born in 1984, graduated from Musashino Art University last year. She received the Shell Art Award in 2007 and Holbein scholarship in 2009. She was deeply influenced by Studio Ghibli’s animation works such as “My Neighbor TOTORO” and works by Disney from childhood.
Hirosawa’s canvas portrays fantastic versions of episodes in her 25 years old life, even the reality of death that she experienced close to her.
“I describe my paintings as love letters to no one. I hope my paintings make people around me happy by sharing my imaginary world,” talks Ms Hirosawa in such an honest manner that makes one blush.
As Hirosawa paints through the filter of her imagination, her paintings are more than a simple form of _expression. Through her talent, her works turn the real world into a more positive and interesting one, reminding us of the magic of Mary Poppins.
