Yu Akashi Solo Exhibition
by Ai Kowada Gallery
Location: Ai Kowada Gallery
Artist(s): Yu AKASHI
Date: 12 Jan - 9 Feb 2013

Yu Akashi is the young artist who challenges a new plane expression. A painting using a napped felt a large amount of sand  for the graduation exhibition won Art Award Tokyo 2008, and after then, his exclusive technique and expression have been received a great attention.

The artist think a visual information as two materials, 'signal' and 'noise'. 'Signal' includes in a main image and 'noise' is showed on a work without his intention, like dust on a film or a one-sided scene. He says 'noise' presents a sense of time in terms of consciousness. There is no time existing in a skull itself, but 'noise' on that scene embraces a moment.

In his recent works, Yu Akashi tried to get an existence of 'noise', his constant concept, as something having more specific foam and weight.
