Luc Tuymans' new exhibition 'The Spill' will introduce a triptych of 'Teacups', 'Model', showing demolished cluster home in Chicago, and 'Head', a doll patterend a person.
'Teacups', the collaboration project with Kerry Jame Marshall, American artist, has a media component he has often mentioned. However, unlike previous works, it describes intense moves, which is very disparate work.
Also, Luc Tuymans has used various architectures, such as Nazi's lab or a building in Shanghai, as a motif, but new work 'Model' shows a model of the building literally. It shows a design only large size building can have and disharmony from same scale as real, so that this work is also a typical of the artist's style but added new elements. This tendency is showed on 'Head' as well, and this work gives a new paradigm of portrait he paints.
All new works in this exhibition also represent Luc Tuymans' existing techniques but a new puzzle crossing them requires us to imagine his new direction.
