GALLERY MoMo Projects is pleased to present the first solo exhibition of Chi-Shin Kim in Japan titled ordinary art. The title comes from his irony that the arts are “ordinary” and his medium for his works. Chi-Shin Kim explores the immediate issues with various materials in the ordinary life such as the sports equipment, the irons and the bottles of Coke. By processing these materials and changing them to artworks, the artist illuminates meanings that people have never thought in the pieces. In addition, Kim expresses his vision with humor and irony by reflecting his experiences from his daily life.
Kim was born in Soul, South Korea in 1980 and graduated from Kyonggi University in 2007 after the military service in South Korea for three years. Since 2008, he had studied sculpture under Magdalena Jetelova at the Academy of fine arts in Munich and received his MFA from the university. He has previously exhibited at Micheko Galerie in Munich, Germany, Kunsthalle am Hamburger Platz in Berlin, Germany, and Gallery27 in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
