Gallery MoMo Ryogoku is pleased to introduce 'Background' series by Tokuro Sakamoto. Born in 1975, Sakamoto has constantly announced paintings using acrylic and Japanese paper.
The art works last year were based on photos of familiar landscapes in a daily life taken by the artist and created landscape focusing on properties and commonality made formative but very abstract painting.
Even though Sakamoto chose the certain place but it was expressed as the familiar scenery to everyone so that it arouses people's sympathy. His painting is where the artist and audiences can communicate and the present and the past are connected. Also there is a trace of the artist's meditation found without contradiction between abstraction and sense of reality.
In this exhibition, 30 art pieces in 'Background' series will be on view.
