Have a party forever
by Gallery MoMo (Ryogoku)
Location: Gallery MoMo (Ryogoku)
Artist(s): Naomi OKUBO
Date: 12 Oct - 9 Nov 2013

Born in 1985, Okubo finished MFA in Musashino Art University in 2011. When she was a freshman, she received a prize at Shell Art Award, and another one from Tokyo Wonder Wall Award in 2007. Also, her exhibition for Tokyo Wonder Wall Award in 2008 and solo exhibition at Gallery MoMo received a great attention.

Okubo has created the art work with the theme, a delicate probability with another person, and recently she tries to show a question for a meaning of adornment and express one side of our society as exploring a meaning and function of decoration and its connection with the society.

In this exhibition, a return to nature can be found in description of background. She pays attention to a state of a person which does not stay in amicable beauty, decoration, and a relationship of the person and society. Her painting still has color sense similar with French painting, but its perspective changing from individuality to the society, and feminine sense of adornment and internality can be found in the exhibition.
