Take a Look in the Mirror
by Clear Edition & Gallery
Location: Clear Edition & Gallery
Artist(s): Koichiro TAKAGI
Date: 26 Apr - 25 May 2013

We are proud to announce a solo exhibition by Koichiro Takagi, well known for his embroidery animal motifs and his expression to portray the “uneasiness“ we all feel in everyday life. His works have been shown internationally through various exhibitions, and showcased in collaboration with prominent fashion brands.

From the ancient periods animals have been considered our guides, both leading us and miss-leading us into various situations. They have been giving us “clues” and are told about in legends and many folk tales. Good or bad, they do mean something special to us human beings.

One reason Takagi focuses on animals is the “hiden-ness”. The facial expression of the anthropomorphic animals have a hidden side which is indecipherable, and portray an unstable state to us, something we often feel through everyday life.

This exhibition “Take a Look in the Mirror“ will showcase Takagi’s embroidery series along with his paintings. Despite the warmness you can feel from the thread works by him, what might be seen by taking a look into the “mirrors“ is probably the egoistic human side of every one of us.
