Ota Fine Arts is pleased to announce the group exhibition "Sculptures", starting from 22 May.

From East to West, China to Iran, this exhibition will follow the cultural belt of Asia. It has selected three-dimensional works with wide-range Asian tones.

Born in Qazvin, Iran in 1925, Monir Shahroudly Farmanfarmaian creates wall sculptures which combine Iranian traditional techniques of mirror mosaic and Isramic geometric pattern with the symbols of Isram. Her radiant fruit of works attract the viewers. The artist recently participated in The 6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art at The Queensland Art Gallery in Brisbane. Her work has received great attention.

Zhan Wang's "Artificial Rock" series was inspired by the Chinese tradition of Scholar's rocks appreciated from the Song dynasty, which was an important part of Confucian art. The artist makes artificial rocks which are made with stainless steel yet with the shapes of those traditional rocks. Born in Beijing in the early '60s, the artist has been witnessing his country changing rapidly over the decades. His works visualize the dialogue between new technologies and cultural traditions.

Seoul based artist, Yee Sookyung creates the series of "Translated vases". They are made with Ceramic fragments which were discarded from the Korean traditional pottery studio. She reconstructs the pieces of Yi dynasty to modern artworks. There are no emotional feelings culture, but her spectatorial eyes towards her country's tradition. The artist is currently participating in "First International Triennale of KOGEI in Kanazawa"(until 20 June).

The selection follows with the other artists, like Okinawa-born Yuken Teruya who will show "You-I, You-I", which used the traditional dyeing techniques of "Bin-gata"in Okinawa and Fujiki Rinshiro, a member of media artist unit "SHINCHIKA". Fujiki will show his newest exquisite colour clay works.
