Slogan

Location: Ota Fine Art
Artist(s): Akira the HUSTLER, Naoya INOSE, Yoshiko SHIMADA, Yuken TERUYA
Date: 8 Sep - 10 Oct 2009

Ota Fine Arts is pleased to announce a selected group exhibition “SLOGAN”.

The area where the gallery is located is called “KACHIDOKI”, which originally means “TRIUMPH” by the army. The word “SLOGAN” came from Gaelic in North Europe and recently we have coincidentally found “KACHIDOKI” has the same meaning as “SLOGAN”.
The gallery tends to favour the works not just only beautiful but have some messages or politics. This exhibition is a selection of those which have strong messages.

Naoya Inose is currently studying at the art university. His solid technique produces the landscapes with the taste of Northern Romanticism and his surreal landscapes and titles warn us about the problems we are facing at this present time.

Yuken Teruya shows one of his representative works of paper bags. Inside of ordinal shopping paper bags, there are little trees, which were simply cut out from those bags. Even though they are not expressing any words, they are very simple and straight forward so that any viewers are able to read the meaning behind them.

Yoshiko Shimada’s new work contains the secrets of family. Those are real ones from anonymous people and they are visualized in each drawers of the cabinet.
