"We are pleased to announce our next photography exhibition. Shen Xue Zhe is third generation of Korean ancestry living in the far North-East of China. Much of his work looks at the lives of the Korean ethnic minority of his region. From today we introduce his work “Tumen River on the Border” and a new Zen Foto book to accompany the exhibition.
The China – North Korean border is defined by a mountain and two rivers. Mt Baekdu in the centre, the Yalu River to the south west and the Tumen River as it flows north-east into the Sea of Japan. Shen has made a series of very fine photographs, standing in China, the land of his birth, looking out over the Tumen River into the land of his ancestors, North Korea.
Mr Shen is in Japan for the opening reception tomorrow evening from 18:00pm. We hope you will take this opportunity to see his superb work, to meet Mr Shen and learn of this region that has been pivotal to the history of the countries of China, Korea, Russia and Japan for centuries." - by Mark Pearson & Amanda Lo
