Chim↑Pom, Japan
Chim↑Pom is a collective of artists formed in 2005 by Eri, Ushiro Ryuta, Hayashi Yasutaka, Mizuno Toshiki, Okada Masataka, Inaoka Motomu. The group is known for advocating works that deal and intervene with the dark sides of "reality in front of the eyes". As they gain attention worldwide, they have participated in several international exhibitions. In 2010, the collection of their works "Chim↑Pom" was published. In recent years, the group was featured in exhibitions such as "CITY-NET ASIA 2011" and screening at MoMA PS1.
Voina, Russia
Voina is an art group formed by Oleg Vorotnikov and Natalia Sokol in Moscow, 2005. The group was joined by Alexei Plutser-Sarno in 2006 and Leonid Nikolaev in 2009. In the same year, the fifth leading member Kasper Sokol was born. "Voina" means "war" in Russian.
Voina takes provocative actions against Russian government, police, and bourgeois by shoplifting in the disguise of a priest and police officer, or having public sex in a museum. Obviously such anarchism is considered dangerous by Russian authorities.
Adbusters, 1989- Magazine, Canada
Adbusters is a magazine started by The Adbusters Media Foundation in Vancouver, 1989. The founder Kalle Lasn is an anticapitalistic activist. The magazine features radical images such as Banksy's art, which goes beyond the boundaries of graffiti and parodies the deception of political propaganda and media. The magazine is an advertising-free, liberal and uncompromising "current" review running exclusively by subscription fee for 120, 000 copies worldwide.
