Very HazyII
by VT Art Salon
Location: VT Art Salon
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 26 Jul - 23 Aug 2014

The long-anticipated but still remains partly concealed "hazy beauty" in Chinese means "beautiful, but not quite revealed," leaving people with a slightly translucent, or ephemeral image ─ a subtle beauty that can be felt but indescribable, through viewer speculations and imaginations, resulting in different aesthetical enjoyments.

“Very Hazy II” brings together elegant ink wash drawings from eleven artists, creating a mysterious spiritual space, though complying to the traditional discipline, they stride between the past and present, are widely incorporated into a variety of styles, such as pop culture (comics, illustrations), Western watercolor, Japan Ukiyo-e ... etc. In we can see the traditional ink painting in a narrative way, showing delicate physical and mental attitude. We see Yen Yu Ting make use of Western paints, pigment ink and color on paper, to tell the story of the rocking horse figure as the time pass by on all from the same long scroll. Yeh Jen-Kun’s blue cityscape conveys an atmosphere of tranquility and calmness. Lin Li Li records her experience of Taiwanese local culture and its glowing warmness onto silk, displaying the intimate emotions of daily life in Taiwan. We see the various ways these artists compose their works, brushworks, colors, perspectives and other narrative method depicting much more than a vague imagination. The perceptual experience combined with a hint of humor; under the surging body of contemporary expressions lurks classical images; sometimes energetic and enthusiastic, sometimes solemn and alienated, creating a little fresh path in the overwhelming chaos of todays art world.

Collision of cultures generate new ideas, we are committed to exploring new voice within contemporary art, contributed to the development of a new era. In Chinese the expression “seeing a mountain is not mountain”, when the landscape is seen through the fog, one is unable to see through the landscape, leaving the viewer to weave different stories in our imagination. This year "Very Hazy" will be continuing in VT Artsalon again the second installation “Very Hazy II”, come and experience the new vision and the hazy glimpse of contemporary art in “Very Hazy II”.
